Chimwemwe was born a number of decades ago from a Presybterian pastoral family…the late Rev Samuel and Mai Busa Robina Semphere. By then her dad was going through Theological training at Nkhoma Theological College. She did her primary school at Nambuma, Mvera, Mthandiza and Nkhoma. In 1983, she began her spiritual walk with the Lord. Within two months of her turning point, she had a dream. She and her sister were singing at a place where some men were drinking beer and after some time…they abandoned their beers and gave attention to the singing. The dream was so real and she believes that marks her call to the music ministry.

The artist is married to Timothy and together they have 2 boys, Dalitso and Tata (biological) and three girls, Monica, Rachel and Yànkho (adopted non legal). She also has four sisters and three brothers. Two of her siblings are pastors.

Chimwemwe did her Secondary school at Likuni Girls Secondary School. After that she worked at Mzumbazumba Enterprise and Revival Center – Kingdom Creations as a sales lady. During this time she was doing part time evening classes in shorthand and typing and later on she joined Graham Carr and Company as a receptionist and typist. Two years later, she joined World Vision Malawi on the same role and that was in 1992. She is still with the organization but this time working as District Sponsorship Coordinator for Ntchisi after breaking off for four years to pursue studies.

In 1999 World Vision Malawi and ORAP Zenzele College co-funded a scholarship for her diploma in Grassroots development & NGO Management. She also holds a Bachelors degree in Mass Communication and a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership. She has also been trained by Haggai Institute, Hawaii in Advanced Leadership. With the help of the Lord…she hopes to continue pursuing her studies.

Her musical journey dates back to the 90s when she was part of the Amazing Grace singers with Chrissie Kamthunzi…Francis Mijiga…Alice Magola…Ester Chawinga and Ruth Nyondo. She went solo after the disbanding of the group. Some of the albums she has produced are Ndiwerenge Mau, Ukulu Wanu, Okhulupirika and An Ode to my dad. An ode to my dad is a tribute for her late dad. One of her popular tracks is Ndikweza Maso. The song was recorded two days after encountering a very tough situation at her work place. Chimwemwe is also the composer of the famous chorus Ndidzakutamandani Mulungu wanga. She now devotes much of her musical time in coaching and mentoring children in music.Through music, she has travelled to Bulgaria, Thailand and Swaziland and she has this year produced an eight track album.

In 2002 in an amazing way she got sponsored to attend a Christian arts conference in Thailand and 2008 history repeated itself and that was now Bulgaria. This inspired her to bring the organisation to Malawi and in 2017 this was launched and the name is Christian artists Networking Association (CANA).

In 2000…Chimwemwe was voted best female gospel music artist of the year in the Entertainers of the year. In 2013 the Music Association of Malawi accorded her an award because of her contribution to children’s music in Malàwi.Part of her work has been fundraising for very needy charities. A part from music, Chimwemwe is a passionate radio personality. She has since volunteered at Radio 101, TWR and Radio ABC. She also is an enterprenuer. When all is done, Chimwemwe wants to be remembered for her role played in children’s music.
